THE VISIBILITY LAB

For Progressive Creators, Podcasters, Consultants, Entrepreneurs & Former Candidates
40 min teaching | 20 min Live Q&A

Excellent work deserves to be found.

A free live workshop for progressive creators, podcasters, consultants, entrepreneurs & former political candidates with a platform who want to become more visible, trusted & sought-after...

Without spinning their wheels creating content - or pouring hundreds of hours into a podcast, project or body of work - that people aren't finding.

THE GAP

You already have something worth saying.

Maybe you've built a podcast.

An audience. A business. An email list.

A body of expertise.

A platform around a cause you care deeply about.

Maybe you ran for office, built an audience in the process, and realized afterward that people still want to hear from you.

Or maybe you've been doing exceptional work for years...and you're finally ready for more people to know about it.

And yet...the caliber of your work and the number of people actually seeing it may be two very different things.

That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to work harder.

It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to post more.

And it definitely doesn’t mean you need to become someone you're not to gain more attention.

It may simply mean no one has ever taught you how visibility actually works.

The problem isn't necessarily the work or its quality - it's likely already exceptional.

It's getting the right people to find it...and doing that without turning content creation into your second full-time job.

Because you can create consistently, publish thoughtful work, interview fascinating people, show up across multiple platforms...and still wonder:

Which of these things is actually moving me toward what I'm trying to build?

That's what we'll tackle in The Visibility Lab.

What do you actually want visibility for?

Because “I want more followers” and…

“I want to become the expert members of Congress call when they need someone to explain this issue”...

Are very different goals.

So are:

“I want the right 5,000 people to discover my podcast so we can build a coalition around this cause.”

“I want someone to hear my name in a conversation about this topic and immediately say, ‘You need to connect with her.’”

“I want my platform to consistently generate clients, speaking invitations, collaborations or opportunities.”

Those outcomes require more than reach.

They require:

Association. Positioning. Repetition. Trust. Credibility. Authority.

And your content strategy should reverse-engineer from that.

That's where we'll start.

The goal isn't necessarily more content.

Sometimes, yes - we need to increase volume.

But very often?

We need to increase specificity.

Specificity about who you're talking to.

What they're experiencing.

What they want.

What they're afraid of.

What they've already tried.

What words they would actually use to describe the problem.

And what you want your name to become associated with.

Because there is an enormous difference between being encountered online…

…and becoming known for something.

In The Visibility Lab, I'll show you the frameworks I use with clients to make that process significantly more intentional.

By the end of The Visibility Lab...

My goal is for you to feel calmer. Clearer. And much more intentional about how you approach visibility.

Not because you'll leave with another enormous list of things to do...but because you'll understand the larger goal and have a framework for deciding what actually deserves your time.

We'll work through:

WHO you're actually trying to reach.
Not a vague demographic. The specific person who should encounter your work and immediately think, Holy shit. She's talking to me.

WHAT you want to become known for.
So you're not simply accumulating views...you're building association, credibility & authority.

HOW to turn those ideas into content.
Using a simple system:

PAIN POINT → CONTEXT → MICRO-SOLUTION → CTA

HOW to create less and extract more.
Including simple text-hook reels, direct-to-camera content, existing interviews, podcast footage and work you're already doing.

HOW to think about the platforms themselves.
So you're not trying to maintain six separate content strategies or spending your entire life online.

And most importantly:

How all of this connects to the larger thing you're actually trying to build.

Because visibility is a skill.

And skills can be learned.

VISIBLE→ KNOWN→ TRUSTED→ SOUGHT-AFTER

That's the path we're building.

To be visible, the right people have to encounter your work.

To become known, it needs to happen repeatedly.

To become trusted, people need to experience how you think...and see themselves in your work.

And eventually, the goal may be to become sustainably & ethically paid for your expertise, your ideas, or the unique solution you provide.

But it starts here:

Reach gets attention.
Authority creates association.
Repetition compounds it.

The goal isn't simply to be encountered.

It's to become associated with something.

This is probably for you if...

  • You already create content, but can't reliably explain why one post gets 800 views and another gets 15,000.

  • You've had content perform exceptionally well - but aren't sure how to replicate it.

  • You have expertise, ideas or a body of work you deeply believe deserves a larger audience.

  • You're building a podcast, business, organization, independent-media platform or post-campaign body of work.

  • You're deeply mission-driven and adamantly do not want to become someone you're not in order to grow.

  • You're spending FAR more time creating content than you want to.

  • Your podcast clips keep disappearing into what feels like an algorithmic void.

  • You're trying to balance this work with a family, career, campaign or actual life.

  • You’re less interested in “becoming an influencer” than becoming known, trusted & sought-after for something that matters.

You're already doing the work.

We're making it more strategic.

And if you're a podcaster...

I have an entire section for you.

Because one of the questions I find most useful with podcasters is:

Is the SHOW the brand...
Or are YOU the brand?

If your larger goal is for you to become known, trusted & sought-after, constantly feeding the podcast machine may not be the most efficient route there.

Sometimes the answer is actually:

Record less.

Perhaps much less.

Then extract the best ideas from those conversations and present them from multiple angles, in multiple formats, through your public-facing platform.

Create less. Extract more.

We'll talk about exactly what that can look like.

This isn't about spending more time on Instagram.

Quite the opposite. We'll go over specific ways to create quality content faster...without feeling like it's guesswork.

A note on how I teach visibility.

I care deeply about how we wield influence.

My north star for ethical marketing is simple:

Ethical marketing creates clarity.

Not pressure. Not fear. Not manufactured urgency.

Whether the eventual “yes” is I'll follow, I'll share this, I'll keep listening or I want to work with you, your job isn't to manufacture it.

It's to communicate clearly enough that the right person can recognize what's for them...and decide.

Welcome. I'm so grateful you're here.

I'm Jen Johannsen.

I spent years working as a dentist, then in entrepreneurship and high-stakes communication. I took an unexpected detour into progressive politics and created community of more than 100 campaigns, candidates, creators, organizers & people in independent media. All aligned around progressive, people-first policies, and getting dark money out of politics.

And somewhere along the way, the through-line in all of my work became incredibly clear:

Ethical influence.

How do really good people with something meaningful to say become seen, known & trusted?

How do they communicate in ways that actually move people...without manipulating them?

And how do we build structures around their expertise so their work can travel further, create more opportunity and, when that's the goal, become financially sustainable?

Today, I work with creators, podcasters, entrepreneurs, accomplished professionals, former candidates & emerging leaders who want to become seen, sought-after & sustainably paid for what they know...without losing their humanity in the process.
